February 14 & 15 we were in what I like to refer to as "the 8th level of hell" otherwise know as the Cheersport National Championships at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.
First off, if you have ever been to the GWCC you know that this is like the largest, never-ending building on the face of the earth. Now, it does not look this way from the outside but it has some Hogwart's type magic and it goes on FOREVER and EVER! Up, down, left, right, down some more...it is unbelievable and you would figure that after five years of coming here I would be used to it but I think it grows every year.
Anywho, back to "the 8th level of hell". Now do NOT get me wrong, I love to go watch the performances, it is AMAZING what these girls (and boys) can do! But this particular competition happens to be like biggest one of the year. Something like over 900 teams, 8 stages and competition going ALL DAY LONG for two days from around 8 in the morning to about 9 or 10 at night. It is total and utter madness, glitter and hairbows in your face at every turn, CHEERLEADERS and DANCERS everywhere, it is like a forest of them and you have to find your way to the clearing at the other end. SIDENOTE: The little Starbucks kiosk lady became a REALLY good friend of mine....:)
So, not only do we watch the team our child is on we go back and forth from stage a to stage g to stage c and so on to support other United teams, which is fun, but tiring after a while...especially when one team goes on like a minute and a half after another and one is on stage a and the other stage h!
We were very proud of our United teams they all did fairly well, I believe, I am not even going to lie, after Peyton's awards...we were OUT of that place! Peyton's team, the Balled Pythons went up against 13 other teams in their division, Youth Level 3. The competition was tough....all the teams were on their A-game, however, the Balled Pythons placed FIRST!!!! Not too shabby. They got the National Champs jacket they've been working so hard for, FINALLY!!!!

Nice Jacket Pey-ton!
So I'm guessing your lasik surgery was sucessful? I guess so since you had to be able to see to navigate the massive civic center! Still want a report on that. Also, great job Peyton and Co.! What cool jackets! (Jen, would you like to share the real cost of the jacket? United lessons, uniforms, traveling, food, bows, glitter,...$$$) That's one expensive jacket!
